Care for Substance Use and Emotional Health

A teen may know substance use is causing problems and still struggle to stop when stress, cravings, shame, anger, or sadness hit. In those moments, substances can feel like the fastest way to calm down, escape, or feel more in control.

At Imagine, care gives teens safer ways to manage those moments. Teens receive support for mental health symptoms, substance use patterns, emotional regulation, cravings, and decision-making so they can respond to pressure with more stability and control.

Signs a Teen May Need Dual Diagnosis Treatment

Parents often notice the overlap through changes in behavior before their teen can fully explain what is happening. Substance use may start showing up alongside mood changes, secrecy, risky choices, school problems, or emotional distress that keeps getting harder to manage.

We support teens facing challenges such as:

  • Using substances to calm down, numb out, or escape
  • Anxiety, depression, trauma, or mood symptoms alongside substance use
  • Cravings during stress, conflict, boredom, or emotional pain
  • Trouble managing anger, panic, sadness, or shame without substances
  • Risky choices tied to impulse control or peer pressure
  • Self-harm or suicidal thoughts alongside substance use
  • Secrecy, isolation, low motivation, or family conflict
  • Difficulty staying substance-free without stronger coping tools

Our Dual Diagnosis Treatment Programs

We offer multiple levels of care so teens can receive the support and structure that fit their needs, daily routine, and clinical recommendation while continuing to live at home.

Please note that summer hours may vary. Contact the facility directly for information on summer hours.

Dual Diagnosis Treatment Available

Many teens struggling with substance use are also dealing with underlying mental health challenges. Treating both at the same time helps reduce relapse risk and supports more stable progress.

How We Help Teens Towards a Better Path

More Awareness of Triggers

Teens learn to notice early warning signs, name what they are feeling, and recognize when they are moving toward a risky choice.

Better Control During Emotional Stress

Care gives teens tools for slowing down, grounding themselves, and getting through intense feelings without turning to substances.

Stronger Choices Around Pressure

Teens practice setting boundaries, leaving unsafe situations, asking for support, and thinking through consequences before acting.

More Confidence After Setbacks

Progress is easier to maintain when teens know how to recover from hard days without giving up or falling back into old patterns.

Tools to Cope With Real-Life Pressures

Coping skills have to work outside of a therapy room. A teen needs to know what to do when a craving hits after school, a friend offers them something, a parent sets a limit, or a wave of anxiety feels too big to manage.

At Imagine, care gives teens structured practice for those exact moments. They work on emotional regulation, communication, relapse prevention, stress tolerance, and healthier outlets, so they have more than one way to get through difficult situations.

With stronger coping skills, teens can begin replacing short-term escape with safer responses that support recovery, stability, and daily life.
